Educational Initiative “Kid-e-Cat” Program coming soon!!

Fur Havens Sake Cat Rescue is a non-profit organization located in Barbour County, Al. The love and compassion I have for cats led me to start a rescue. With the help from our friends and supporters we have been able to provide adequate shelter, food, spay & neuter, vaccinations and vet care to all 53 cats at the shelter. 

Our future plans will be to build a large enclosure on private property that will keep them away from predictors and to where they feel safe to roam free. No cat here is caged.

Our most important future plan (by spring of 2019) is a project that is dear to my heart. I am excited to announce. "Kid-e-Cat" program. We will be remodelng the kitten room to make it into an Educational room. It’s a educational initiative program to allow children to read to the cats in which will help the cats become more loving and be more social. That gives them a more chance at getting adopted, also it allows the child to work on his/her reading skills. Children who may be allergic to cats will still be able to read to them. With todays technology we will have it set up where they can facetime or do live videos. We want to be able to encourage children to read more and improve their reading skills. We want the child and cat to form a bond with each other. Cats can be very affectionate towards their humans, especially if they imprint on them at a very young age and are treated with consistent affection.

Along with this program we will be teaching the children how to be responsible for caring for an animal. The importance of spay & neutering and how the children can make a difference in educating the community on cntrolling the cat population. One female cat and her offspring can produce up to 420,000 kittens in 7 yeas. We will be awarding children with certificates and other awards for participating in the program.

Our future plans here at Fur Havens Sake Cat Rescue will make a difference in a cats life and a child’s heart. By donating to our rescue we have an opportunity to have fb and pay pal match our donation amount. The money raised will go toward building a cat enclosure outside, the remodeling of the kitten room, purchase books and childrens chairs, bookshelves and of course the well care of the cats which includes vet care, future spay & neuturing, vaccines, food, supplies and emergency expenses.
